Without love I am NOTHING

"And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing."

I have been meditating on this verse for a while now and it's just crazy to me. Without love, I am nothing because God is love (1 John 4:8). And if God's love isn't involved -- it's worthless. Francis Chan said that before he goes and gives sermons or talks to people he asks himself "do I even love these people in my heart"? Me being selfish as I am, it's so hard to love selflessly. And a lot of times, the tasks of doing and serving others distracts our hearts from being present and loving (the very reason we set out to serve). And for many years I have tried to give and sacrifice enough to love people "well". But no matter what, I couldn't. The ONLY way I can is by asking for God's Spirit in me to overflow onto others. For I can do nothing apart from God (John 15:5). I pray I believe and humbly live this truth out to experience more and more of God's Spirit.

What have you been praying for lately? I encourage you to pray for the filling of God's love instead of trying to imitate it because we'll never be able to unless it's His love overflowing from us.

P.S. in this photo are my two amazing older sisters and awesome not so young anymore cousin, whom I love very much!
