Why Were You/Humans Created?

There's no where better to start than with what God tells us from His very own breath in scripture:

"For in him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and FOR him." –Colossians 1:16

"For Him" is key in this verse...God created us to enjoy Him and His goodness through a relationship with Him. He made us to bring glory/honor/praise to His majestic/perfect self.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." – 1 Peter 2:9

• God created us.

• Crafted us as His own masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)

• Crafted us in His own image. (Genesis 1:27)

• Knitted us together in our mother's womb. (Psalm 139:13)

• Knew us before we were even born. (Jeremiah 1:5)

WOW. Everyone quotes this. But I encourage you to stop and just really think about that. And if it's true, think about the implications of this!

He chose us even when we chose to be our own Gods and choose things over Him from from the very beginning. We were lost in our sin, being our own Gods. Dead and without satisfaction or joy. Separated from God because of our sin. (Galatians 2:1-6)

So God sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay for the penalty of our sin against God so we didn't have to. He traded our sin and death for his righteousness (right standing with God). (2 Corinthians 5:21) This is a free gift God gives us. Nothing we can do to earn it, just accept it through faith. (Ephesians 2:8)

As the 1 Peter verse says, he called us out of darkness/sin into his beautiful, perfect, wonderful light (relationship with Him) and for that WE FOREVER PRAISE AND WORSHIP HIS GREAT NAME. :)
